The painting features selected players from the Tottenham Hotspur side of the 2018-19 season. The highlight of which was the journey to the Champions League final in Madrid.
As a Spurs fan for many years I felt compelled to create a painting to commemorate this stunning achievement. The energy and the passion of the players is better captured in an energetic painting than a photograph.
I was faced with a “selection headache” in choosing which players to feature. Originally I was only going to paint 5 players, but in the end could not limit myself to that number. I soon realized our season would always be remembered for our Champions League run, so I decided on 8 players that featured prominently in that run, and added the manager as a background element. It was impossible to leave him out since he has had such an impact on the team and it seemed fitting to have him in the background, pulling the strings.
