The Life and Mind of Mark Defriest

These are frames that I created as part of the pre-visualization phase for this compelling documentary from director Gabriel London. It is the story of Mark Defriest, who fueled by the injustice of imprisonment over “stealing” tools that were willed to him by his father, became a master prison escape artist. Despite numerous successful escapes, he was always recaptured and his endeavors have only added decades in solitary to his jail time. In the documentary Mark’s escape attempts are visualized through animation.
